At Digital Matter, we pride ourselves on designing and manufacturing IoT and telematic solutions that not only meet, but exceed industry standards. Each device we craft undergoes rigorous quality control processes at our state-of-the-art facility in South Africa. This committment ensures that every product we deliver is built to offer reliability and exceptional performance, and allows our partners to streamline and fast-track their deployment.

Our Manufacturing Process

Our manufacturing journey begins with precision and efficiency at its core, utilizing a range of advanced Surface Mount Technology (SMT) machines. These machines play a crucial role in accurately placing device components on the PCBs, ensuring that every piece is perfectly aligned according to our technical blueprints.

Quality Control Procedures

Automated Optical Inspection (AOI): After the components are securely mounted, each PCB undergoes a thorough automated optical inspection. This process involves a rapid, yet detailed visual check to identify any irregularities or misplacements that could affect functionality.

X-ray Inspection: To ensure further reliability, we conduct x-ray inspections on a randomly selected subset of PCBs. This step is vital for maintaining statistical confidence in our production run. It allows us to inspect beneath each component, checking for quality soldering, potential solder bridges, and any short circuits that could compromise the device’s integrity.

Functional Testing: Each device is then subjected to exhaustive functional testing, carried out by our specialized production testing team. We develop custom testing equipment tailored to meet the unique requirements of each device type we manufacture. This includes testing GPS functionality, modem connectivity, accelerometer precision, sleep current, and more.

RF Validation: Our rigorous testing protocol also includes RF validation performed with sophisticated spectrum analyzing equipment. This ensures that each device can operate effectively across all GPS and network bands, further guaranteeing the reliability of our solutions.

Data Logging and Traceability

Our attentiveness doesn’t end after testing. Every functional test is systematically logged, providing our team with crucial data for ongoing analysis and future improvements. This high level of traceability is part of our commitment to quality and continuous enhancement.

Commitment to Global Industry Standards

At Digital Matter, our rigorous manufacturing and quality control processes are designed to surpass global industry standards. Our proactive approach to quality assurance ensures that businesses worldwide can depend on our solutions to track, manage, and optimize their assets effectively.
